DIFIS (European Project)

DIFIS presents a European R&D Project in the context of the 6º Research Framework Programme (FP6) of the European Commission that was conducted in the wake of The Prestige accident and that aimed to contribute to mitigate the effects from future oil spills in high sea by means of studying, design (including costing, planning, deployment procedures, etc.) and validation of an EU reference method for the prompt and cost-effective intervention and remediation of tanker wrecks dealing with eventual leaks and recuperating the fuel trapped in their tanks even at considerable depths.
